Fibonacci Fun: A Cross-Grade Learning Experience
Recently, our Grade 11 and 12 students led an engaging Math and Art Workshop for students in Grades 2, 3, and 4. In this collaborative learning experience, the High School students introduced their younger peers to the Fibonacci Sequence, an important mathematical pattern found throughout nature. Together, they explored how this sequence appears in the world around us and how artists, including Gaudí, have used it as inspiration in their creative work. The workshop concluded with the ES students crafting their own symmetrical flower out of paper, a wonderful opportunity to see the connections between math, nature, and art.
This event showcases unique benefits of being part of a K–12 school community, where older students can inspire younger learners, while also deepening their own understanding through teaching.
