Grade 3 Brings Ancient Rome to Life

On December 17, Grade 3 students wrapped up a month-long unit of learning with an engaging Roman “boot camp” activity. During the session, students designed class shields inspired by ancient Roman symbolism and took part in hands-on activities that simulated the training of Roman legionaries.

Students marched in formation, carried weighted packs, and practiced forming a testudo (tortoise) formation. Working together, they defended against a final (and very fun!) barrage of soft balls and foam noodles. Students shared observations and takeaways following the exercise, especially the importance of working together.

It was a fun and memorable way for students to learn about ancient Rome on the AISV Sports Field!
