Future Engineers Design Flood Solutions for the City of Vienna
On December 5, our Grade 3 students welcomed their parents into the classroom to showcase how they approached a real-world challenge: protecting the city of Vienna from the impacts of flooding.
As part of their recent studies on weather and climate, students took on the role of city planners. They learned that identifying patterns in weather data helps us make accurate weather predictions. Putting this knowledge into action, they engineered innovative city systems designed to adapt to changing climates.
During the event, families learned about the students’ impressive prototypes for green roofs, floating homes, and data centers for storm monitoring.
We are incredibly proud of how our students used science to engineer solutions for the city of Vienna.
