Grade 2 and 3 Service Learning Success
In February, we shared that our Grade 3 students spearheaded a service project to collect clothing for children in need. This project supported the E+B Initiative in Ethiopia, an organization founded by an Ethiopian couple dedicated to fighting poverty. Read the original article and learn more about how this project came to be.
We are happy to share a significant update: Grade 2 students joined the Grade 3 team in this initiative. With the generous support of the AISV community, the students collected a total of 500 kilograms of clothing!
While the project faced unexpected shipping logistics challenges, the teams worked together to find a meaningful solution. The collected items were ultimately redirected to an orphanage in Kenya, ensuring the donations reached children who could benefit from them immediately.
A notable aspect of this project was the integration of service learning with the students' current classroom curriculum. This connection allowed students to apply their academic units to real-world humanitarian efforts.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the AISV students, teachers, parents, and community members who contributed to the success of this project. Your involvement made this achievement possible.
