Small Actions, Global Impact: ES Celebrates International Day
Today, October 17, our AISV Elementary School celebrated International Day. Elementary School students began the day with an assembly focused around this year’s International Day theme ‘Small Actions, Global Impact’.
The assembly began with a wonderful flag parade, where our Elementary School learners showed off the belonging flags they created to represent their cultural heritage. The assembly included grade-level instrumental concerts, dance and poetry performances, and a special Brazilian Capoeira presentation, sponsored by the AISV Annual Fund and presented by Lúcio Lopes and one of his students. The assembly closed with all Elementary School students performing our AISV song together.
The assembly was followed by a variety of international day-themed activities and presentations, including parent-led country workshops, offering students the chance to immerse themselves in diverse cultures and explore their connections to the countries represented at AISV, whether it be their birthplace or a place they have called home.
The events of the day culminated in a shared International Day Lunch in each grade level, where parents brought a national dish that reflected a place they feel a sense of belonging to.
Thank you to our student MCs, along with the many teacher and parent volunteers who made the learning come alive for students.
