Distinguished U.S. College Admissions Consultant Visits AISV
From October 14–17, AIS Vienna welcomed Rod Skinner, a distinguished U.S. college admissions consultant, for a series of informative sessions with students, parents, faculty, administration, and board members. The sessions provided invaluable opportunities for students in Grade 8 through Grade 12 and their families to gain insights into the U.S. higher education system.
Rod brings a wealth of experience to college admissions consulting, having held leadership positions at prestigious institutions such as Milton Academy and Deerfield Academy. His expertise extends to national and international education organizations, including the College Board and the Common Application.
Throughout the week, students participated in a variety of workshops focused on different aspects of U.S. college applications, like Writing Compelling College Essays & Admissions Interviews and Summer Options! How to Use Your Summers Strategically to Strengthen U.S. University Applications. Parents attended dedicated sessions including Choosing the Best-fit University in the U.S. for Your Child, Introduction to the U.S. University Application System, U.S. College Essays & Interviews, and Q&A sessions for families to address unique circumstances. During each session, Rod offered tailored advice based on common trends and concerns raised in questions submitted by parents in advance.
Additionally, families had opportunities to schedule individual consultations with Rod. These one-on-one sessions were particularly helpful for students in Grade 11 and Grade 12 who are preparing for college applications.
This week-long series offered guidance, support, and personalized strategies, empowering AIS Vienna students and their families to navigate the U.S. college admissions process with confidence.
