Building Spanish Literacy Across Grades

Last week, the Spanish 3 classes had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and language skills by reading their own storybooks to Grade 2 students. This project required the Middle School authors to not only draft and translate their narratives, but also to hand-illustrate their work.

The experience provided a vital real-world context for language practice. Reading aloud to a live audience challenges students to master more than just vocabulary; it demands fluency, precise pronunciation, and engaging intonation. Our Middle Schoolers took great pride in their work, while the Elementary students benefited from a unique opportunity to sharpen their Spanish listening skills.

Overall, the experience was a success and an example of the power of cross-grade interaction. We hope to continue this tradition in the future!
