Early Childhood Celebrates St. Martin’s Day

On November 6, our Early Childhood students participated in a traditional St. Martin’s Day lantern procession, proudly carrying their handmade lanterns. Celebrated in Austria on November 11, the day features children walking with lanterns while singing traditional songs in honor of St. Martin of Tours, a soldier famous for sharing his cloak with a beggar.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten learners began the walk from their classrooms and made their way to the grassy area in front of the Villa. There, they sang songs (Ich geh mit meiner Laterne and Laterne, Laterne), enjoyed a retelling of the St. Martin story performed by a few of our Elementary School students, and shared a Kipferl to celebrate the spirit of giving that St. Martin’s Day embodies.

What a wonderful way to teach our young learners about sharing, kindness, and community here at AISV!
