Developing Fluency Through Debate
On November 26, students in the Spanish SL and Intermediate B classes participated in a series of structured debates as part of their thematic unit on cultural traditions.
The activity was designed to engage learners in examining the advantages and disadvantages of selected cultural practices while strengthening their ability to articulate well-reasoned arguments in Spanish. Through guided debates and research-supported discussions, students expanded their thematic vocabulary and practiced expressing complex ideas with clarity and coherence.
These debate activities also contributed to the development of students’ interactive oral communication skills. Engaging in real-time dialogue allowed learners to strengthen pronunciation, improve grammatical accuracy, and enhance overall fluency.
Exchanges such as these foster cultural appreciation and promote global citizenship and respect for diversity.
