MS Field Trip Day

On January 23, our Middle School students went on various field trips with their grade levels. Students had a fantastic time learning beyond the classroom and campus walls.

Grade 8 students attended a robotics workshop at Engineering for Kids® Austria. While our students interact with technology daily, the mechanics behind these devices can often feel abstract. This hands-on session introduced key concepts in robotics and programming. We look forward to continuing these discussions in class, specifically how math and science relate to emerging innovations. This experience also ties into the students’ current Social Studies unit on the impact of technology.

Grade 7 students focused on service learning through several impactful projects. One team ventured into the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods) to restore habitats for local lizard and orchid species. Simultaneously, a second group visited a local home for the elderly, where they performed a morning talent show followed by an afternoon of crafts and conversation.

At the Museum Gugging, another cohort explored the intersection of neurodiversity and creativity; these students will apply their insights by leading Middle School activities for Neurodiversity Week in March. Finally, a dedicated team prepared and served 150 meals at the Caritas Gruft soup kitchen. We are incredibly proud of how our Grade 7 students contributed meaningfully to the wider community.

Grade 6 students had an incredible day of learning, connection, and winter fun! They enjoyed an unforgettable field trip that brought their Social Studies learning to life. The morning was spent at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, where students examined fascinating artifacts connected to their Civilizations unit. Guided by museum educators, they asked thoughtful questions, made meaningful connections, and saw history in a whole new way.

After their morning activities, all grade levels headed to Rathausplatz for lunch and an afternoon of ice skating. From first-time skaters finding their balance to confident gliders helping friends on the ice, it was a joy to see students encouraging one another, stepping outside their comfort zones, and sharing lots of laughter along the way.

These shared experiences beyond the classroom help strengthen friendships and build a true sense of belonging in our school community. We are proud of how our students represented the school with curiosity, teamwork, and positive energy while using the city of Vienna as an extension of our campus!
