A Peek Inside Grade 3 Strings Class

From May 11 to 18, our youngest strings musicians welcomed their families to campus for a special look at their musical progress this school year. The Grade 3 students proudly demonstrated a typical class in action with performances, and sharing everything from rhythm and melody exercises to proper instrument care and technique. To wrap up the visit, the students took on the role of teacher, guiding their families through some of the skills they’ve mastered so far.

The AIS Vienna Strings Program, offered in Grade 3 through Grade 12, is a vibrant program where students learn to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass. In our Elementary School, students build a foundation for good musicianship with beginning technique, reading music, and creativity with improvisation and composition. All Grade 3 students at AIS Vienna take Strings Class and learn a beginning instrument. They then have the option to continue in Grade 4 and 5.

To support the program, AIS Vienna has approximately 315 string instruments available for student rental, and a team of private teachers offers individual lessons after school for extra tuition.

Congratulations to our Grade 3 musicians!
