Grade 4 Visits Amethyst World

On October 30, in preparation for their upcoming science unit, "Earth: Features and Processes," our Grade 4 students took a field trip to Amethyst World in Maissau, Austria. This hands-on, off-campus learning experience featured an underground tour of the Maissau amethyst, the largest amethyst vein in the world, and time with tools in the treasure field, digging up their very own amethyst to take home. 

The fantastic fall weather and the beautiful Austrian countryside served as a perfect background to a day spent exploring and learning about the features of rocks, crystals, and our ever-changing Earth!
