What Is Freedom?

This question was posed by Mr. Kuykendall to the students in his HS US History class. His students created a video asking others in Vienna and around the world about what freedom means to them and to explain the core elements of freedom. This in turn provided a framework to analyze governmental policy and legislation aimed at achieving, or restricting, freedom.

This was done over Distance Learning and is a great example of not only an engaging, relevant and worthwhile project (in a distance context or otherwise), but also the power of engaging students around questions and requiring them to reflect in order to connect.
