The Middle School field trips on Wednesday, October 16 were a huge success, with all grade levels involved in curricular or service learning activities for the day.
Grade 6 took a trip to Mamuz Museum in Asparn an der Zaya to improve their understanding of paleolithic and neolithic history. Grade 7 visited the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum in downtown Vienna. Grade 8 divided into two groups. One group remained at AIS and hosted students from the Clara Fey Schule, a school for students with intellectual disabilities. The second group visited the ORF station in the morning and walked through the Dialog im Dunkeln in the afternoon.
Since 1959, we have offered opportunities like this for students to be immersed in the local culture of our host city, country, and region. Now, 60 years later, this is just one of the many ways we continue to use the local community as part of our curriculum and extended campus.
