Make A Difference
Join the Executive Board (EB) or the Auditing Committee (AC) and Make a Difference at our school. Become one of the countless men and women around the world who care deeply about the schools they serve and give generously of their time and talents to help these schools remain true to their values, further their mission, meet challenges, ensure compliance and due diligence and prepare for the future.
It is the unique responsibility of the School Board to hold the school’s future “in trust”. Although the challenges and demands of Board membership are considerable, so are the rewards. Just ask some of our current Board members who have been entrusted with this great responsibility.
The EB is the governing body of the school and the Association (parents) elect members to serve on this School Board for a two-year term. EB members must be current parents at the school, or associate or honorary members. No person employed by the school, nor the spouse of such an employee, may be elected or appointed to the EB or AC.
EB or AC Members serve two-year terms that start on July 1, and end on June 30, two years later. Elections for the EB and the AC take place each year in the context of the regular Spring General Assembly.
The EB is responsible for governing the Association/Verein in accordance with the applicable laws, the bylaws of the Association/Verein and the decisions of the General Assembly. Being on the Board means you and your fellow members, in partnership with the Director, provide leadership, good governance and support as the school strives to achieve its mission, guided by its strategic plan, in the service of student learning. The Board focuses on strategic issues and on the long-term well-being of the school. This allows the Director to take responsibility for the day-to-day administration and operations of the school, including and most importantly, all aspects of the instructional program. The EB shall have standing Finance & Risk Management, and Governance & Policy Committees; each EB member shall serve on at least one committee or ad-hoc task force.
The AC is independent of the Finance & Risk Management Committee and the EB and it has oversight over the school’s major business and operational risks to assure the EB that the risks are being identified and managed appropriately. For full Auditing Committee roles, click here.
