Join the Executive Board (EB) or the Auditing Committee (AC) and Make a Difference at our school. The Make a Difference Campaign and Call for Nominees begins at the end of February every year allowing potential candidates the months of March and April to consider and to apply to serve their school.

The Nominations Committee (NomCom) will host a Meet & Greet – Wine & Cheese Session in the Secondary Library on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 19:00 – 20:30 for Association members to meet the potential Candidates and to acquire more information. Click here for the invitation.

NomCom will provide a further opportunity to meet the potential Candidates @ the EB Open General Session on May 11, 2017 from 18:30 – 18:45 for brief Candidate Introductions.

It is the unique responsibility of the School Board to hold the school’s future “in trust”. Although the challenges and demands of Board membership are considerable, so are the rewards. Just ask some of our current Board members who have been entrusted with this great responsibility.

The EB is the governing body of the school and the Association (parents) can elect eight members to serve on this School Board for a two year term. EB members must be current parents at the school or associate or honorary members. No person employed by the school on an on-going basis, nor the spouse of such an employee, may be elected or appointed to the EB or AC. For this Executive Board election, two of the four vacancies must be filled by US citizens. EB Members serve two year terms that commence on July 01 and end on June 30, two academic years later.

The EB is responsible for governing the Association / Verein in accordance with the applicable laws, the By-laws of the Association / Verein and the decisions of the General Assembly. Being on the Board means you and your fellow members, in partnership with the Director, provide leadership, good governance and support as the school strives to achieve its mission, guided by its Strategic Plan, in the service of student learning. The Board focuses on strategic issues and on the long-term well-being of the school. This allows the Director to take responsibility for the day-to-day administration and operations of the school, including and most importantly, all aspects of the instructional program. The EB shall have standing Finance, Policy and Governance Committees; each EB member shall serve on at least one Committee. For a description of the standing committees, click here.

Additionally, one of the three positions for the Auditing Committee (AC) is up for election. The AC is independent of the Finance Committee (FICO) and the EB and it has oversight over the school’s major business and operational risks to assure the EB that the risks are being identified and managed appropriately. AC Members serve two year terms that commence on July 01 and end on June 30, two academic years later.

Elections for the Executive Board and the Auditing Committee take place each year in the context of the regular Spring General Assembly. This year this is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16 at 18:45 in the AIS Theater.
