Admissions Policy

The American International School • Vienna accepts students who are able to work towards the successful completion of the AIS academic requirements within the framework of the regular classroom and the limits and capacity of the school’s facilities, resources, and support personnel. In order to maintain an environment in which English is the predominant language, places for non-English-speaking students are limited.

Admission to AIS is determined by the Director in accordance with the Admissions Guidelines and the following priority:

  1. Children of US and Canadian citizens with diplomatic status, qualifying faculty and, occasionally, other diplomatic and U.N. missions
  2. Siblings of currently enrolled students
  3. Guaranteed Placement Program, as per guidelines
  4. Other US or Canadian citizens
  5. Children of alumni
  6. Returning former students
  7. Students of other nationalities
  8. Children of the local Austrian community

In reserving places for the next school year, the order of priority is strictly maintained until 1 April of the current school year.

AIS Vienna accepts paperless applications! The entire process can be done online.
