Athletics

Our program is divided into fall, winter, and spring seasons.  Each season we offer competitive programs for our Middle and High School students. Students interested in playing on a team need to attend a ‘try out’, which is held for each sport at the beginning of the season. Coaches are encouraged to be as inclusive as possible without compromising the program. It is important to remember that this is a competitive program; placement on a team cannot be guaranteed.

Students may compete in no more than one sport per season. At the varsity level, teams practice three times per week. At the junior varsity and Middle School levels the teams practice twice per week.

Uniforms are provided by the school and must be returned at the end of the season. (Socks are purchased and kept by the students.)

AIS compete in the International Schools Sports Tournaments (ISST) for High School, the Sports Council for International Schools (SCIS) at the High and Middle School levels, and the Danube Valley Athletic Conference (DVAC) for Middles School ‘B’ teams.

We have an activities bus that students may use after practices finish. It leaves the AIS parking lot at 17:20 and travels through Neustift stopping at the 35A bus stop. It then turns left at the circle and goes up Agnesgasse. It turns round at the top and heads back to AIS. It leaves AIS at 17:45 goes to the U3 end stop at Ottakring.
