Welcome to the AIS Vienna High School. We are a community of 263 students and their parents and 52 faculty and staff, working together to make the AIS experience rewarding for each of our students.
The High School experience at AIS is a broad one. A strong and multi-faceted academic program is enhanced with an array of athletic opportunities, activities, and clubs to create a school culture that offers something for everyone. The international nature of our students and staff provides added richness. And, our exquisite setting in the Vienna Woods on the outskirts of such a vibrant and cultured capital city makes life as an AIS student particularly stimulating.
A special strength of the high school is the faculty. Accomplished in their subject fields, they are also well-versed in the latest pedagogy. They know what works and they have the resources they need to make the most out of each classroom hour. Students respect the faculty, for sure, but they also feel a special bond with their teachers. Consistently, students cite the student-teacher relationship as the element of AIS that they cherish the most. Unique among many international schools, AIS boasts a balance of long-term teachers who have made Vienna their permanent home, and more recent arrivals. This balance provides a sense of consistency and commitment to the core values of the school blended with the infusion of fresh ideas and experiences from other schools. The result is an educational model that has maintained AIS’ longstanding reputation as a quality school.
Families chose AIS for many reasons. Some seek our highly effective International Baccalaureate Diploma, a challenging and rewarding program engaging the majority of AIS juniors and seniors. Others want an international education experience that allows for completion of the Austrian Matura Equivalency Program. And still others simply want a high quality, well-rounded American-style education.
Whatever the goal, all AIS families value a school where students are actively engaged in all aspects of their school lives, where teachers and staff truly care for their well-being, and where they know their children will be well prepared for university.
That is what AIS is all about. We take pride in our students, our faculty, and our school culture. Come visit and see for yourself.
