We actively seek qualified teachers from around the world who wish to help us fulfill our school's mission. Recruitment generally begins in December for positions for the following school year but applications can be submitted when the list of vacant positions at all divisions is made available.

Applicants for teaching positions at AIS should possess strong verbal and writing skills in English. Additionally, applicants should hold a BA or higher degree from an accredited college or university. A qualified Teaching Certificate will be expected. Two years, or more, of teaching experience is desirable.

If you don't currently have a teacher vacancy that matches my profile, can I send you my resume?
Yes, if you do not see a vacancy in your field, you might find it helpful to review the information on the AIS Vienna website to see if AISV typically hires professionals in your area of expertise. If we do, please consider completing a Candidate Profile through the AISV/Schrole recruiting system on the AIS Vienna Employment webpage. Please note that AISV does not accept applications or resumes outside of the online AISV/Schrole Recruiting System.
How do I apply?
Applications for open positions, as well as for ongoing recruitment programs, must be submitted through our online Current Vacancies AISV/Schrole recruiting system. See Current Vacancies for more details. To apply, you must first create a Candidate Profile in the online system, as AISV does not accept applications or CVs outside of the AISV/Schrole recruiting system. Early submission is encouraged.
How long does it take for an application to be processed?
Applications are usually reviewed within one week of the closing of the vacancy. If your application matches the profile we are looking for, our principals will send it to a search committee for review. If the search committee expresses interest in your application, you will be contacted within a few weeks from the time you apply. The AISV/Schrole system will notify you if your application was not selected for further review. If we decide to pursue your application, we will arrange for an interview either via Skype, or at one of the attended recruiting fairs.
How long does it take to make a decision on an advertised vacancy?
It depends on the circumstances and the number of qualified candidates who apply. Typically, for an internationally posted vacancy, it can take about two or three months from the time that the position is first advertised. Please note that in the event that an outstanding applicant is identified early in the search process, AIS Vienna reserves the right to make an appointment or close the selection process before the deadline.
Does AISV consider candidates residing outside of the U.S. for all positions?
AISV recruits teaching and administrative positions on a broad geographical basis. However, support staff positions are filled with candidates residing in the local Vienna, Austria area.
I am registered with a recruitment agency you work with, do I also need to register with Schrole via the AIS website?
You are not required to apply via Schrole; our principals will search for candidates at recruitment agencies too. The recruitment agencies we work with are listed on the AIS Employment webpage. It is recommended to use both because it will increase your chances that your resume will be seen. Please note that applying via our website through Schrole is free of charge.
Who is a locally hired teacher?
Locally hired teachers are those who have come to Vienna of their own volition and are subsequently hired by the school. Their decision for coming to Vienna may be to accompany a spouse or partner who will be working in Vienna, or any other circumstances that would cause them to be here prior to the hiring process. Since the school has not recruited these employees to come to Vienna specifically to work for AIS, their contract of employment will not include support benefits, such as transportation, etc. Salary and benefits such as health insurance that are related to the work contract will be included unless provided through the spouse's contract in Vienna.
What is a locally engaged / no-expatriate-designed position for support staff?
All applicants must be residing in the country and have the required residence permits for employment in Austria. Applicants are quested to follow the application procedures as indicated on the announcements. Only applications for specifically advertised openings will be considered.
