End-of-Semester Student Withdrawals

Top

We expect that some families are going to be relocated these next few months and will have to withdraw their children from AIS before the second semester. To help teachers and division assistants prepare reports and other documents for the next school and to expedite the clearance process, we kindly ask parents to complete and send the Withdrawal Notification Form to the Admissions Office as soon as you confirm your family’s departure or at least 2 weeks before your child’s last day of school.

Please do not hesitate to email or call us through phone number 01 40132 ext. 2531 or 2181 for questions.

In the meantime, have a restful Fall Break!

Deidree Diño and Johanna Leary, The Admissions / Registrar’s Office

Medal Madness: Congratulations to all of the student athletes that competed in SCIS tournaments the last 2 weekends. ALL of our teams took home medals! This past weekend our Varsity Boys Soccer team took 3rd place while our Varsity Girls Soccer and Volleyball both took home silver medals!

Housing: Thank you to all of the families that housed last weekend! Up next is the ISST Boys Volleyball Tournament from the 9th to the 12th of November. We have sent reminders out this week to those families that did not already confirm and the guest names should be out the week after the break.

We hope that all of our student athletes and their families enjoy their time off next week!

Top

The Romanian Children’s Relief Club is beginning its annual collection drive in aid of Fondaţia Inocenţi, an organization that works with disabled, abandoned and disadvantaged children in and around Bistriţa, Romania. This fall, 11 students and two teachers will visit Bistriţa to volunteer and to deliver much-needed materials and medicines for the children. We hope to travel with bulging suitcases, and need your help to fill them!

Particular needs include:

  • Toys & art materials suitable for young children – balloons, facepaints, pencils, crayons, paints & brushes, glitter, art papers, playdoh, scissors, erasers
  • Clothes, shoes & hair clips/ties for young children – new or lightly used
  • Baby medicines, including diaper ointments, teething toys, infant Tylenol (Nureflex), baby thermometers
  • General children’s medical supplies, including over-the-counter allergy/eczema treatments, painkillers, band-aids, vitamins, burn creams, surgical gloves, toothbrushes & toothpaste, shampoo

Anything you can donate will be gratefully received. We’d also love to hear of any connections within the AIS community that might like to contribute on a larger scale.

Materials can be delivered to Mr Healey in S34 (HS Physics lab), and suggestions or questions should be directed to k.healey@ais.at.

Parent Portal Update
Prior to Parent-Teacher Conferences our teachers have provided Life Skills scores for each student as well as upgraded grade books to communicate progress to date with parents. Parents are encouraged to enter the parent portal on Friday, October 21 for our “Grades in Progress” update which may help prioritize which teachers parents most want to meet during conferences.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Emails will be sent to parents on November 2 with instructions for the Parent-Teacher Conferences that will be held on the evening of November 10 and in the morning of November 11. Appointments with the teachers you would like to meet can be booked as of Tuesday, November 3 at noon, but not before Tuesday, November 3 at noon. If a parent cannot identify a time slot to meet with a teacher, please email the teacher directly to set up an appointment at your earliest convenience. Please remember to print out your appointment schedule and bring that with you to conferences so that you have room locations and meeting times.

Musical and Concerts
Thank you to our parents and students who were able to join us on one of the three nights of our AIS Players Musical or for either of our Band, Strings or Choir concerts. Your support is greatly appreciated as is your help in creating a genuine performance opportunity. We trust you enjoyed the show.
