Admissions Office Tasks / Services During the School Year
The work of the Admissions Office does not end when your children start school. Throughout the school year, we are also responsible for:

  • Changing / updating contact information for parents and guardians on the school database
  • Changing students’ official names and citizenship on the school’s records
  • Issuing certificates of enrollment (“Schulbesuchsbestätigungen”)
  • Completing forms required by the Stadtschulrat Wien (Vienna City School Board) – these are urgent and must be forwarded to us immediately
  • Processing records requests for students who have already left AIS
  • Processing inquiries and visit requests from your friends, relatives, colleagues, or employers

Early / End-of-Semester Student Withdrawals
We understand that some families will have to be relocated these next few months or during the course of the school year. To help teachers and division assistants prepare reports and other documents for the next school and to expedite the clearance process, we kindly ask parents to complete and send the Withdrawal Notification Form to the Admissions Office at least 2 weeks before your child’s last day of school.

Please do not hesitate to email us at Admissions@ais.at or call us through phone number 01 40132 ext. 2531 or 2181 for questions.

Have a wonderful school year!

Deidree Diño and Johanna Leary, The Admissions / Registrar’s Office

AIS Middle School Meets Astronauts

Top

On October 5 the entire AIS Middle School, along with Grade 5, will have the pleasure of holding an assembly with astronauts Rusty Schweickart and Dumitru Prunariu. The students will get to spend about one hour with the two astronauts who will speak with them about their experiences.

This is quite a privilege and it is thanks to our 7th grader, Polina, and her grandfather, Col. Padalka, who set this up for us.

Patty Dietderich, MS Science

Transportation Corner

Over the last few years we have had numerous items left or lost on the After School buses. There has been confusion as to where these items should be recovered or turned in if found. Please review the Lost and Found Procedures which will go into effect immediately.

As always, contact information can be found on the AIS Bus Service page.

Habitat Peace Breakfast

Top

The Habitat For Humanity team is grateful for the tremendous support they received from the parents to host the UN Peace Day Breakfast for students and staff. We sold over two hundred waffles and special homemade treats sent by several Middle School Parents. We raised 515 Euros that will go towards purchasing materials for the November Thanksgiving Build that the AIS team will take part in.

Elementary STEM Challenges

Top

What is STEM? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Educators around the world are recognizing the importance of developing these skills in learners, in order to prepare them for an ever-changing future.

This year in the Elementary School we will hold two school-wide STEM challenges. Through these challenges our students will be learning to:

  • think creatively
  • solve problems
  • be flexible and open-minded
  • persevere and try multiple solutions
  • work in a team
  • integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

The challenges are also a lot of fun!

For our first STEM challenge on Thursday, 6 October, our students will be building spinning top toys out of recycled materials. Your child's teacher will be sending more information soon.

For questions, please contact Betsy Hammerberg.

Betsy Hammerberg, Elementary STEM Coordinator
