Oman Choral Festival

Calling High School Choral Singers!

Our singers will return to Muscat, Oman in February to participate in the annual Festival of Choirs held at TAISM - The American International School of Muscat. Melanie Brink has organized this choir festival for fifteen years, inviting international schools to participate in the MASS choir experience under the baton of renowned conductors from the United States University Choral circuit. This year’s conductor is Dr. Jeffrey Redding of Florida fame. His High School Choir was nominated for an Emmy Award! You can see him in action in a TED talk. There are twenty places reserved for our singers and half of those places are currently taken. We are missing two days prior to SKI WEEK vacation in February 2017, and are considering staying on for a few extra days to explore the desert and the beaches of this amazingly beautiful country. There are seven songs to learn before attending and then two rehearsal days are spent making beautiful music together with 160 other singers from the region. The singers are housed with singers from the TAISM school to help keep costs down, but any extra days will not include home stays.

If you are interested in having your child participate, please inform Mrs. Heedles as soon as possible!

Kathy Heedles, MS/HS Choral Music

AIS Ski Plus+ Feb 19-24, 2017

We will host a SKI PLUS+ presentation at AIS in the Faculty Lounge (next to cafeteria) on Wednesday, September 21 at 17.30. As well as more information about what we offer during the trip it is also a chance for you to ask questions.

The trip is held during the school’s February break leaving on Sunday February 19 from AIS by bus and returning Friday February 24, again by bus to AIS.

Students are supervised 24 hours a day and the trip is appropriate for all levels of Skiers and Snowboarders. If you would like more information please click HERE where you will find a more detailed description. Click HERE for a short informational video and HERE for a video taken by one of our students.

We very much appreciate all of the parents who joined us for the Open House September 13 and hope you have a better understanding of your child’s courses and teachers. For those who could not attend, we hope you can join us for individual conferences with specific information about your child on November 10 and 11 at our Parent Teacher Conferences.

Finally, we hope that your child identified some community service, activities or clubs to join at our Club Fair held on September 14.
