Qualifications
Experience working with middle and high school students in a library or other academic setting
Enthusiasm for reading and an interest in young adult literature
Native or near-native English, oral and written; German bilingual or multilingual preferred
Tech skills and experience, including but not limited to proficiency in Mac OSX, iOS, G Suite for Education; knowledge of academic databases, library platforms (Destiny, Overdrive/Sora); familiarity with student information systems; and comfort using AI applications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
Job Goal
Performing the daily technical and physical operations of the Secondary School Library while assisting the librarian in creating a welcoming, engaging, information-rich atmosphere that facilitates student learning, collaboration, and community building.
Performance Responsibilities
Covering the library circulation desk throughout the day
Assisting library patrons in discovering and utilizing library resources
Supervision of middle and high school students in the library
Processing, inventory, and circulation of library materials
Promoting the library program and resources via social media and school channels
Communicating with students, faculty, and the wider community
Providing assistance in the operation of library equipment
Updates and maintenance of library audiovisual and tech equipment
Performing other duties as assigned by the librarian

Communicates concerns to appropriate teachers or administrators.
Hours
Library Assistants’ core hours are from 08:45 until 16:00 (may be negotiable to suit the needs of the library).
Performance Evaluation
Library Assistants will be evaluated in writing at least once a year by their direct supervisors/teachers in charge, and if there are concerns regarding the evaluation, they should be put in writing and referred to the relevant Principal. IAs will also meet with their supervisors to work on goals and objectives for the year.
